Abstract: The present work examines the effect of surfactant concentration on mean drop size. Experiments have been performed in various hold-ups, impeller speeds and surfactant concentrations. Agitation was provided by 2 four-blade impellers in a continuous single stage horizontal mixer-settler. The results show that in a low concentration of surfactant, a significant decrease in mean drop size is observed, but at high concentration, increasing surfactant concentration does not change mean drop size more. Also, the effects of impeller speed and hold-up on mean drop size have been investigated.
