Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the application of distributed-lumped (hybrid) modeling techniques (DLMT) in modeling of forced torsional vibration of systems. To illustrate the simplicity and efficiency of the method, we analyze an industrial example of a rotating shaft with a lumped element subjected to various torques. Natural frequencies obtained by this method are compared with those obtained using the finite element and Holzer method. In addition, this method is used to calculate the time responses of the system subjected to three different types of torsional forces.
