Abstract: This paper presents a method for solving ballistic penetration problems using LS-DYNA. To achieve a reliable methodology in LS-DYNA code, several runs are performed and their results are compared with experimental data. The main problem addressed here is the penetration of a hardened steel-steel rod in steel plates with different thicknesses. In this paper, we also investigate the effects of target plate thickness in ballistic limit and failure mode.
