Abstract: Although traditional statistical methods are used to control variation, the aim of the new advanced quality engineering methodology, i.e. Robust Design is to design products and processes that are minimally impacted by external forces. This paper attempts to demonstrate and discuss how it works and also highlight its contribution to quality subjects. The outcomes imply that the new methodology has several advantages in comparison with traditional approaches, including its focus on the ideal product / process function and is expected to be considered the most important issue in the quality world in the third millennium.
