Abstract: This paper is intended to evaluate the progressive collapse behavior of seismically code designed steel framebuildings. The structural systems considered are a concentrically braced frame (CBF) and a momentresisting frame (MRF). The progressive collapse design guidelines typically recommend simplified analyzing procedures involving the immediate removal of specified critical columns in a building. The objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of progressive collapse evaluation through numerical simulations such as linear static, nonlinear static and nonlinear dynamic analysis processes. The simulated results of the considered models showed that nonlinear dynamic analysis reflects a progressive collapse more accurate than linear analysis. Also, the 3D model is a more realistic 2D model for the progressive collapse analysis.
