Abstract: Glucose oxidase production was optimized using an isolated strain of Aspergillus niger and penicillium amagasakiense. The effects of polysaccharide alginates and locust bean gum and oligosaccharides oligomannuronate (OM) and oligoguluronate (OG) on glucose oxidase (GOD) production by Penicillium variabile P16 were studied. The method of glucose oxidase production (-D-glucose: oxidase-1-oxidoreductase, E.C.220.127.116.11.4.GOD) using the waste myceliums of Aspergillus niger has been studied. The growth of many bacterial and fungal species is thus inhibited in the presence of GOD, which, for example, has killed microsclerotia of Verticillium dahliae both in ithro and in sterile soil.
